Job Overview:
The Revision Manger is responsible for the daily operations of the revision team’s developmental editors and ensures the team utilizes best practices (including instructional design methodologies) for timely execution of the revision product roadmap. The Manager is also responsible for the implementation of consistent operational efficiencies and high quality across the product line. The Manager is a standout idea generator and problem solver with excellent communication and organizational skills.
The Manager participates in planning the revision roadmap and monitoring the progress of deliverables and deadlines for the team. Responsibilities include meeting with team members to plan projects, answer questions about priorities, advise on instructional design best practices, and manage the development of projects until the course content is revised and released. This position works cross-functionally to deliver high-quality, engaging courses that solve customer’s biggest problems.
Responsibilities:
Manage team to ensure courses are revised according to agreed upon specifications and delivered according to schedule
Apply strategic planning skills to create a long-term vision for the content, working with Content team leads and Director of Content
Drive the team to continually evolve and release content that consistently improves upon previous iterations
Confirm that revision content and application documents meet regulatory compliance standards for approval, when appropriate
Develop and distribute processes for new methods of preparing content, including implementing instructional design methodologies; train developmental editors on new processes
Ensure processes for new methods of preparing content are working, documenting adjustments as needed to improve future processes and schedules
Manage distribution of work to developmental editors (internal) and freelancers (external) based on resource availability and project needs
Facilitate weekly sprint planning meetings to assign work and attend daily standups to advise on priorities, answer questions, and understand potential blockers, etc.
Lead project planning and commitment meetings for stakeholders at the beginning of new revision projects
Monitor and maintain accurate revision project time-tracking for present project analysis and future project estimates
Provide ongoing evaluation, coaching, and upskilling, paying attention to instructional design implementation and project management
Recruit, vet, and contract robust pool of freelance editors and vendors to manage workload and ensure highest quality content
Identify and participate in opportunities to interact with customers: site visits, conferences, advisory board interactions, focus groups
Identify opportunities for developmental editors to interact with customers: virtual interviews, secondary research, local events, webinars
Cross-functional collaboration: Identify process and communication challenges and ensure expeditious, effective resolution
Project reporting: Maintain current reports/dashboards related to projects and adhere to budgets
Attract, build, and retain high-performing team members and recruit new talent
Job requirements
Competencies Required:
5+ years of demonstrated experience with digital courseware and proven ability to improve, modernize, and troubleshoot content and curricula
Ability to coach and develop a team of 10 professionals
Knowledge of eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline/Rise, DominKnow Claro/Flow)
LMS experience
Strong consulting skills with the ability to quickly gain credibility and partner collaboratively with stakeholders
Strategic thinker with strong emphasis on execution
Experience with instructional design
Meticulous approach to work and an eye for detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and market
Performance Expectations:
Evaluate and revise existing content development processes with the goal of improved efficiency, transparency, product quality, and cost-savings.
Manage distribution of work, including supplying instructions and deadlines, to team members based on resource availability and project needs.
Communicate effectively with team leaders on topics such as upcoming deadlines and priorities
