The Sr. Systems Administrator plans, develops, maintains, and supports information technology systems and operations. The Systems Administrator provides documentation and training on administering and supporting those solutions to other team members and supports peers when necessary.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in metrics gathering and monitoring activities, and serving on-call rotations with tools such as Application Insights, Grafana, and OpsGenie

·       Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions

·       Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines

·       Recognizes and troubleshoots problems related to servers and associated technologies; implements solutions, installs, and configures recommendations for customer needs

·       Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations

·       Researches and produces solutions to the most complex technical problems through the analysis, development/programming, testing, and application of emergent technologies both at the server and client endpoint levels

·       Performs system patching, vulnerability remediation, system backups, security, and disaster recovery for all essential system and client processes

·       Consults, coordinates support, and provides technical expertise to department for the purposes of planning, designing, coordinating, procuring, and installing servers and storage infrastructure

·       Prepares reports to management as needed, or requested

·       Develops and maintains scripted automation (e.g., Azure Automation Runbooks) to streamline recurring operational tasks and reduce manual effort

·       Manages tickets, service requests, and CMDB records within the ITSM platform, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution

·       Administers endpoint management tooling to provision, configure, and maintain compliance across workstations and devices

Job requirements

Requirements: (Capabilities, Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Attitudes, Credentials – bulleted list):

·       3+ years of experience operating Azure and AWS public clouds

·       Proficiency in Linux and Windows server administration and networking

·       Proficiency in scripting (BASH, Python, or PowerShell) with experience building and maintaining automation such as Azure Automation Runbooks

·       Knowledge of security and compliance best practices

·       Experience working within an ITSM/ticketing platform (e.g., HaloITSM, ServiceNow) to manage incidents, service requests, changes, and the CMDB

·       Experience with endpoint management solutions (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Autopilot) for device provisioning, configuration, and compliance

·       Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, including identity and access management, Conditional Access policies, and access governance/entitlement management, as well as Privileged Identity Management (PIM) for just-in-time privileged access

·       Project management with the proven ability to prioritize, handle risk, control costs, adhere to timelines, and manage project teams

·       Experience and a desire to mentor less experienced team members.

·       Strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Physical Requirements: (change if the position requires anything different)

·       Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

·       Prolonged periods of wearing a headset

·       Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times

·       Ability to travel to the office in Orlando if needed to service and support hardware

 

Performance Expectations:

Identify 3 key measures of performance for the individual in the position to succeed.

·       Ensure high system uptime and availability (target: 99.9%) through preventative maintenance, proactive monitoring, and timely stakeholder communication

·       Maintain a secure, well-governed environment by ensuring systems are patched, backed up, and compliant with Microsoft Entra Conditional Access and governance policies, demonstrated through regular reporting

·       Successfully deliver assigned projects on time and within scope by applying strong project management, organizational, and communication skills to plan, track, and report progress to stakeholders
